Overview

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction supports ÈËÆÞÂÒÂ× schools in providing high quality curriculum and instruction designed to ensure that all students graduate college and career ready. A focus on college and career readiness permeates curriculum and instruction from grades preK-12 and within all of the content areas, including mathematics, English language arts, science, social science, foreign language, visual performing arts, and physical education.

English Learner (EL) Staff Resources

Overview

The Sacramento City Unified School District ELD/ELA departments celebrate and amplify the identities of all English Learners. We affirm that the unique needs and identities each student brings to their classrooms are an asset to the school community.  We strive to provide equitable access to rigorous instruction and develop a community of responsible learners who are inspired to be curious and feel empowered to direct their own learning and engage with their community.

FAIR Education Act: Staff Resources

Overview

The FAIR Education Act is to be implemented in social science classes in all grades. As part of this work, ÈËÆÞÂÒÂ× is available to support teachers and the school community to create and maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.

The law provides no additional funding for new textbooks.

Library/Textbook Services works with the Curriculum Department to complete K-12 curriculum fulfillment for textbooks, workbooks and teaching materials year-round. Please use the documents below to request teacher or student material, or return curriculum materials.

Materials Lab

Overview

The Materials Lab is a self-service project workshop. The purpose is to offer educators a space in which creativity in teaching can flourish. The freedom to utilize such a wide variety of crafting machines and materials always opens the door to inspiration. Teaching is then enhanced by creative ideas that complement the basic curriculum and assist students in learning.

Each site or department allocates their own Materials Lab budget for the year. Please check with your supervisor.

Professional Library

Overview
The Professional Library is OPEN! Teachers can come by Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

The Professional Library at the Serna Center has just what you need! The contemporary collection includes over 25,000 titles and books aligned to California and ÈËÆÞÂÒÂ× adopted curriculum.

Teachers can check out up to 30 books for 30 days.

You can search the entire collection from your school or home.

ÈËÆÞÂÒÂ× Science (CA NGSS)

Overview

Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

The California Department of Education (CDE) adopted the in 2013 and released the draft instructional framework for Science Education.

To prepare for the implementation of the new standards, the district collaborated with SCTA in the spring of 2015 to form a committee and develop a comprehensive three-year NGSS implementation plan.

Charging Stations

EV Workplace Charging Program

Overview

In order to facilitate the District’s energy and sustainability goals outlined in the District’s Carbon Neutral Goals and Guidelines, the District has installed electric vehicle charging stations to be used for personal vehicles. ÈËÆÞÂÒÂ×’s Electric Vehicle Workplace Charging Program is intended to encourage and support the use of an EV for employees as an alternative mode of transportation.
