Sacramento City Unified Provides Update on Summer Construction Projects
Summer 2022 Construction Projects prioritized from ’S Award Winning Equity Based Facility Master Plan

Sacramento, CA - Sacramento City Unified provided an update today on construction projects occurring throughout the district this summer. Projects were prioritized according to ’s . This past spring, the California Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) honored with the and called our Equity Based Master Plan a “refreshing and thoughtful approach”. The bulk of these construction projects occur in the summer months to avoid disruptions to student learning during the school year.
Updates for July 29, 2022:
- Caleb Greenwood hardcourt and utility replacement. The pictures that follow provide a visual update on the progress of the new seat wall under the tree by the field, the new outdoor stage and seat wall under oak tree in campus, and the kindergarten playground.
- The work on the Hiram Johnson Stadium includes grading for the bleachers, plaza, restrooms and the installation of utilities. The following pictures provide a visual of this week’s work.
- Elder Creek Elementary’s field and hardcourt were removed, and work has started to install the new underground utility and shade shelter. The hard court paving is currently scheduled for August 25 and 26. The following pictures provide a visual of the hardcourt area and a tractor working on the shade shelter pad.
Other Updates:
- Didion K-8 School’s hardcourt has new utilities starting this week.
- Parkway Elementary paving is still expected to occur August 16 and 17.
- The Luther Burbank High School pool work is in process. filters are in great shape and will be repurposed to another site in need, saving a new purchase of approximately $50,000.
- The gym floor for Albert Einstein Middle School is on schedule; is being floated and prepped for the sub-floor.
- JFK High School’s roof is about 5 days ahead of schedule. Exterior paint is on schedule.
- Shade structures are in progress at 15 sites. This work includes ADA access, restrooms, parking lots and walkways as required. Shade shelters are still on schedule for delivery in October 2022.
