Joint Statement from and UPE Regarding Compensation
Sacramento, CA - The Sacramento City Unified School District () and United Professional Educators (UPE) have reached an agreement to close out contract reopener negotiations for the completed 2022-2023 school year.
UPE represents principals, assistant principals, and various instructional and student support certificated professionals whose work is essential to helping ensure our dedicated Sac City Unified teachers have the tools and support necessary to set our students up for success. This historic agreement demonstrates the importance places on retaining and recruiting the educators who hold these vital positions. It also ensures that UPE members, and school site leaders in particular, will be elevated to a salary that is reflective of their immense value to the District.
The agreement includes the following compensation increases:

10% ongoing salary increase for all UPE unit members
retroactive to July 1, 2022
- Additional 6% salary increase for all Principals and Assistant Principals
“Our Board appreciates the service and leadership of our district’s dedicated school site administrators,” said Board President Lavinia Grace Phillips. “We are extremely pleased that the District and UPE have finalized negotiations regarding compensation for the 2022-2023 school year. This agreement will help our District to continue to attract talented educators to serve in important school site leadership roles.”

The agreement between and UPE closes out all negotiations for the completed 2022-23 academic year. Further, and UPE agree to pursue a new three year successor contract for the 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 school years.
